Free Prostate Cancer Screenings (No insurance needed)
Bringing free, no insurance required prostate cancer screenings to communities is
our signature awareness and early detection program. Check this one out. We can
use your help to schedule a free screening day. Networking with other prostate cancer
organizations is cost-effective and gives communities the opportunity to get involved in
our work. We do the behind the scenes work to make sure we draw at least 125 men to
each screening for men. Many are out of work or have no insurance insurance.
How can we help you bring free screenings to your community?
Project Zero- The Project to End Prostate Cancer is one of those organizations we network
with to bring free, no insurance required, prostate early detection screenings to
communities. MAPC underwrites the cost through donations and sponsorships. Project
Zero has two mobile screening units that travel the United States. There are two doctors
and two phlebotomists onboard. Two tests are given, a blood test (PSA) and a rectal
exam (DRE). These tests are sent to the University of Michigan laboratories for reading
and a private letter is sent to each male. lf follow up is needed our community advocate
program will guide those needing further help.
MAPC will provide an information table available to answer questions, greet and meet
each man being tested, it’s a man to man deal. We secure the screening location and
work with local groups to promote the screenings that are usually one day or two with
location changes. Our years of community organization and promotion experience make
it easy for host locations. At a location we screen an average of 150 men in one day. We
will try to have a free gift for each man tested and often a gift for a child as well; a
celebrity to sign autographs and talk to men making them feel more at ease. We assist the
women in their lives that attend, and offer support to those cured of prostate cancer that
car pool their buddies.
Over the past three years, MAPC has networked with the Cleveland Cavaliers;
Cincinnati Reds; Toledo MudHens; Sarasota Reds; and in 2010 expand a relationship
with the Pittsburgh Pirates to promote screening days. We project over 2,500 free
screenings in 2010 and a doubling each year thereafter as we continue to grow and more
communities are informed. Lives will be saved; families will be at ease.
MAPC has also designed an easy step directional guide to promote local screening days
and has provided speakers to Rotary; Kiwanis; American Legion: Masonic; and other
men’s groups. We also have involved The National Guard and groups from paintball
clubs to car rallies.
Our growth in Ohio projects a goal of 14 onsite locations for free testing in 2010. In
Florida, we project our goal to surpass this amount with a projected sponsor is secured.
